Private Pathology Services using iMedical.
Blood tests are a critical source of information leading to the diagnosis and treatment of all health conditions. Some issues relating to the scalp and hair can only be uncovered using blood tests.
Most people who visit the practice with hair loss concerns will need some basic blood tests to review. If you have had recent comprehensive tests further tests may not be required. But in most cases, some tests will be needed that are missing.
Based on your hair and scalp examination, medical and lifestyle history, or even blood tests presented during your appointment any missing tests will need to be investigated.
This is to ensure all the potential contributing factors to your hair loss condition are identified.
In many cases, you can ask your GP to refer you for these recommended tests, many of which they will include from Medicare, but some they may not.
There are also occasions when GPs are reluctant to do all the tests requested. Furthermore, they may not perceive some issues arising from the tests as contributing to your hair and scalp health.
To make your consultation process as streamlined as possible, the practice offers private pathology services via iMedical. This is a private service and is not covered by Medicare.
iMedical is an Australian-wide pathology service that uses NATA-accredited labs. They provide comprehensive blood testing, and direct access pathology, meaning no visit to your health practitioner is required. It’s private and secure.
The process is simple. 3 easy steps:
- I recommend what tests are needed and provide a quote, I order your tests and send you a printout of your iMedical pathology request.
- You then visit a ‘Collection Centre’ (in WA there are 160+ Australian ClinicalLabs locations and 200 Western Diagnostic Pathology locations)
- Your results are usually emailed to you and directed to me within 48 hours. Some test results may take longer.
Following the delivery of your results, I will arrange with you a complimentary follow-up call which is included in your consultation fee to discuss these with you, either on the telephone or via video call.
